David Mellor CBE, Royal Designer for Industry, is the best known cutlery designer in Britain. Born in Sheffield, historic centre of cutlery making, he trained originally as a silversmith. His modern cutlery, in stainless steel, silver plate and sterling silver, has a widespread reputation for its qualities of design and manufacture, and examples are in many international design collections.

Manufactured in a unique purpose built factory, designed by Sir Michael Hopkins, our cutlery is made by a small specialist team of highly skilled craftsmen with an exceptional expertise in metalwork. Though the factory is technologically advanced a high degree of hand finishing is employed to give the cutlery its perfectionist quality.

This combination of technology and skill gives us much greater control over the production and enables us to tailor our cutlery for special orders by marking pieces with a name or logo, or altering the finish of a range to suit our clients’ requirements.

New ranges of exquisite fine bone china, porcelain and hand-blown glassware are also available to compliment David Mellor cutlery. Immaculately designed by Corin Mellor and manufactured to the highest standards these ranges have a beautiful modernity.
